You Only Live Once

My resume speaks to a life spent in pursuit of excellence: high school varsity letter recipient in band, swimming, and track; Michigan all-state tenor saxophonist; U.S. Naval Academy graduate; honorably-discharged veteran; sideman on recordings and tours with Grammy-winner Earl Klugh and much more. However, it’s been difficult to find a good fit for my skill set in Ellensburg.

Following kidney failure in December 2011, I learned the importance of placing physical & mental wellness above all else. Time was devoted to enjoying simple pleasures (music, food, adult beverages, etc) while cultivating friendships. These things inspired the creation of Jazz, Bites & Sips and provided a renewed sense of purpose. But old habits die hard and the stress of grinding began to wear me down again.

It took a 9-day stay in the hospital over the holidays to remind me to remain committed to living life to the fullest. Time to reboot (again) and continue this amazing journey! #YOLO
